Knowing that most people are not taught how to develop a blue print for their life or even how to live a life they would love in the 21st century is really quite shocking and the process woven through this book can help to change that. Society at all levels has to stop thinking (or not thinking) that people will just work it out and know what to do because it is clearly not working. If we applied the same fundamentals and include the emotional quotient that we apply to successful global corporations or bureaucracies who have learned to implement effective systems and processes and who regularly review and refine them and then always measure what they do qualitatively and quantitatively and link it to the bottom line, we would start the ball rolling in the right way. The key here is including the emotional bit, not deny it. Because without these life skills - life can be indeed a hell of a ride and the Fantastic Life I speak of often in If it’s to be: It’s up to me, is available to far too few.

Back from Hell is semi autobiographical with anthologies and anecdotes and completes a trilogy. The book details a period in Merydith’s life when she was seriously ill from years of working too many hours and not paying attention to her stress levels and where on a business trip her life came tumbling down. It identifies key techniques and processes she used that enabled her over a four year period to make a complete recovery without using licit or illicit drugs and without adhering to ‘labels’. Given Merydith is an international OD consultant and works with leaders at all levels she sees many either burnt out or close to it and knows the impact that this has on the leader and the business bottom line of any organisation thus she has woven case studies, information on habit formation, neuroscience and other relevant leadership topics throughout the book.
